An Unimportant Failure at IDIA

  • Balance Dance Studio -- Bravo Black Box 4544 S Lamar Blvd Austin, TX, 78745 United States (map)

A special presentation of An Unimportant Failure, a Tether theatre/dance project in collaboration with Devon J. Adams.

Inspired equally by the Greek’s story and by Matisse’s cutout images of Icarus, this piece uses dance, theatre, poetry, stillness, scissors, song, paper, myth and modern legend to ask questions about the ones we loose.  What kind of holes can people leave behind?  What do we loose and gain of ourselves when we truly let go?  This show is about bravery and adventure, about looking ahead.  This is a play and a paper cut out.

The iDance In Austin festival draws the arts community together to showcase Austin dancers, dance companies, and performance artists through a weekend of performances that are open to the public. A portion of the proceeds benefits a specific non-profit organization. This year, the festival has partnered with organizations that fight against human sex-trafficking in our city. In order to raise awareness for these organizations, the theme of the show is Bondage vs. Freedom. The performances will take place June 12th-13th in the brand new Bravo black-box theatre at Balance Dance Studios.
